Useful information about the flight from Edinburgh to Tenerife South

Tenerife - a secluded paradise in the middle of the ocean

The Canary Islands are definitely on everyone's holiday wish list and if you want to combine breathtaking beaches with some city fun, there is no better place to do it than in Tenerife. This lively and beautiful island will definitely make all your holiday dreams come true.

When to visit Tenerife

Tenerife enjoys a great climate, so it is a perfect year-round destination. Keep in mind that the north of Tenerife can be a bit cooler and wetter than the south. The peak season for Tenerife is January to April. However, during the winter when the hotel prices peak, flight prices tend to drop. The best month to visit Tenerife is September, as the weather is reliable and the accommodation prices are lower.
If you want to see everything Tenerife has to offer, you should visit during the most important festivals and events. In February or March, you can enjoy the Carnival in Santa Cruz and Puerto de la Cruz. On the 30th of May, there is the Dias de las islas Canarias, a special holiday celebrated on all Canary Islands with numerous local events with music, dance and festivals. The 12th of October is Día de la Hispanida (Columbus day), which is a Spanish national holiday, and is celebrated with events and parades.

What you should know before heading to Tenerife

If you are looking for some fun and lots of activities, it is probably best to stick to the main resorts and beaches in the south of Tenerife, such as Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas, which are very popular. On the other hand, if you are after a more relaxing holiday, the west coast is much quieter. Sports enthusiasts will probably prefer the north of the island, which is a great choice for surfing and hiking.
Restaurant prices and food prices are slightly lower in the Canary Islands than in Britain.

Tenerife buses, hotels and airport transfer

If you land at Tenerife South Airport, you can take buses 343, 350 or 111 to Los Cristianos and Costa Adeje. A bus ticket price is around 3 EUR and the trip takes approximately 15 minutes. Single tickets prices start at around 1.50 EUR. Taxis are generally cheaper than in Britain, with a minimum fare of 5 EUR for 3 km, and 1 EUR per each kilometre thereafter.

When searching for accommodation, keep in mind that hostel and pension prices start at around 20 EUR per night, while 3 star hotels cost around 35 EUR per night per person.
