Cyprus holiday - flights to Larnaca
There are two airports in Cyprus, Larnaca airport is used by holidaymakers heading to the popular beach resorts in the south, such as Ayia Napa. Larnaca city also has its own beach: Finikoudes.
The city of Larnaca is in southern Cyprus. The many beaches on the south coast make it an excellent destination for a relaxing beach holiday.
When is it best to travel to Cyprus?
Since Cyprus’ climate is pleasantly warm to hot during the months between March and October, this is the best time to go. Winters will tend to be mild as well but there can be some rainfall. There are a number of festivals throughout the year, the most popular include the carnival in February ad the Anthestiria flower festival in May, as well as the flood festival (Kataklysmos) shortly after the orthodox Pentecost celebrations.
How do you prepare for a holiday in Cyprus?
There is a strict ban on the export of antiques as well as stones from the north of Cyprus. To visit the northern part of the island which is part of Turkey, visitors will need ID and to cross one of the official border controls.
Larnaca and Cyprus is not more expensive than the UK. A soft drink is priced at around just under 2 EUR, a beer will cost about 3.50 EUR and a meal out will be around 12 EUR.
How do you travel on from Larnaca airport?
Onward travel options from Larnaca airport include taxis, buses or hire cars. A taxi from Larnaca International Airport will cost about 10 Euros and takes only 15 minutes to the centre of Larnaca. Buses will be cheaper at around 1.50 EUR. In general taxis are more expensive during the night. Taxis from Larnaca to Nicosia wil be around 40 EUR and to Limassol approx. 55 EUR. There are also shuttle buses to both these cities, which will cost 8 EUR to Nicosia and to Limassol 9 EUR. Local buses in and around Larnaca will cost ca. 1.50 in the daytime and 2.50 for night journeys. Getting a week pass is worthwhile for those travelling frequently.
Airport Larnaca LCA
Larnaca International Airport is the main airport of the Greek Republic of Cyprus. Especially in the summer it is served by many charter airlines with cheap flights from Britain and Germany, and is also an important link and a hub for many air travellers and airlines from the Middle East and Europe. Larnaca airport is one of two airports on Cyprus; the other is Paphos airport, also an international airports, but much smaller.
