






































In Cyprus, holidaymakers can expect beautiful scenery, ancient customs and imposing monuments. The island is most popular with beach holidaymakers.
Cyprus is an excellent holiday destination most of the year. From March to November, temperatures are pleasantly warm to hot. In the mild winter months it can rain more.
The carnival takes place at the end of February or beginning of March. In May, the flower festival "Anthestiria" is held with a flower parade. In June, people celebrate the flood festival Kataklysmos, which is the biggest festival. During the Larnaca Summer Festival in July, you can attend numerous concerts, dance, theatre and film performances.
Please note that the export of antiques is prohibited. Onward travel to the north of the island, which is separated by a so-called Green Line and buffer zone, is only possible with identity checks at certain official border crossings.
The price of living in Cyprus is roughly comparable to that in the UK. A typical restaurant meal costs about 12 EUR, a beer about 3.50 EUR, soft drinks about 2 EUR.
From Larnaca International Airport, the Zenon bus is the cheapest way to get to the centre of the city. The journey takes about 20 to 30 minutes and the price is about 1.50 EUR. From here there are buses to most of the popular resorts along the coast. Alternatively take a taxi directly from the airport. A taxi during the day costs about 10 EUR, to Nicosia about 41 EUR, to Limassol about 55 EUR. There are also shuttle buses from the airport to Nicosia (about 8 EUR) and Limassol (about 9 EUR).
If you plan to travel from Larnaca Airport to one of the popular Cyprus resorts such as Limassol, Protaras, or Ayia Napa, you can take either the bus, local taxi, or a transfer which was booked in advance. There are 2 types of buses from the airport: green and blue. Taxis can be reserved at a counter in the arrivals hal. Alternatively, passengers may book a taxi online in advance.
Three-star hotels cost from 30 EUR/night per person and flats from about 35 EUR/night. Prices rise in the high season.
There is a well-developed public transport system in Larnaca with Zenon buses. Ticket prices in Larnaca are about 1.50 EUR for a single journey and about 2.50 EUR for the night bus. A day ticket costs about 5 EUR, a week ticket about 20 EUR. For an inter-city day ticket you pay about 15 EUR. If you decide to take a taxi, you have to reckon with a starting fare of about 3.50 EUR and about 0.73 EUR per kilometre. The city centre of Larnaca and the beach areas are best explored on foot.
