Larnaca airport is the best destination to access the many beach resorts on the coast of Cyprus as well as the city of Larnaca itself. When is the best time for a holiday to Cyprus?

The climate in Cyprus allows for a pleasant stay all year round. From March to November the weather is warm to hot, winter months are mild with more rainfall. There are many attractive festivals throughout the year. The carnival takes place at the end of February or beginning of March, and the flower festival "Anthestiria" in May. The most extensive festivities can be witnessed in June during the flood festival "Kataklysmos". Culture lovers will enjoy the Larnaca Summer Festival in July.

Things to know when planning your trip

Antiques may not be exported. The export ban also applies to stones in the north of Cyprus. The northern part of the island can only be entered by passing through certain checkpoints after an identity check.

The cost of living in Cyprus is roughly comparable to that in the UK. Soft drinks cost about 1.90 EUR, a beer about 3.50 EUR. A typical meal in a restaurant costs about 12 EUR.

Is there public transport in Cyprus?

Yes, public transport in Cyprus is fairly good: bus tickets from the airport into central Larnaca cost around 1.50 EUR. The taxi ride from Larnaca International Airport to the city centre takes about 15 minutes and is more priced at around 10 EUR.  At nighttime, taxi rides are generally more expensive. For trips by taxi to Nicosia you should calculate about 40 EUR, to Limassol about 55 EUR. Both cities can also be easily reached by shuttle bus for about 8 EUR and 9 EUR respectively. For bus rides in Larnaca and the surrounding area, single rides are available for about 1.50 EUR during the day and about 2.50 EUR at night. If you travel a lot, you can buy a daily or weekly ticket. The starting fare for taxis is about EUR 3.50 during the day and about EUR 0.73 per kilometre.

An overnight stay in a 3-star hotel costs from about 30 EUR per night and person, in a flat about 35 EUR per night and person upwards. Prices are higher during the peak season.
