Tips and tricks to help you find cheap flights from Manchester to Gran Canaria Las Palmas

Useful information about the flight from Manchester to Gran Canaria Las Palmas
Gran Canaria, island paradise
Gran Canaria is one of the seven Spanish Canary Islands off the coast of Africa and is known for its gorgeous white sand beaches and the palm trees from which it gets its name. From an annual donkey racing festival to year long sunny weather and the opportunity to swim, snorkel and play other water sports, there is always something going on here.
Gran Canaria: when travel?
Gran Canaria is a year round travel destination. You can enjoy the sunshine at Gran Canaria any time of year. One thing to watch out for, though is the wind, which tends to get stronger between October and March (at this time, too, the weather is cooler than the rest of the year). Come on May 30th to experience the annual party known as Dias de las Islas Canarias, and on October 12th to join in with the Columbus Day celebrations.
Book your place on a surf school in advance
One of the key activities to participate in this part of the world is surfing, and there are surf schools aplenty in Gran Canaria where people of all abilities can learn to surf or even enter competitions. Securing your place at a surf school before you travel is a good idea. You can also hire equipment if necessary before travelling to the Canary Islands as well. Mountain biking is another popular activity.
What are the costs of staying in Gran Canaria and of getting around?
This is a relatively budget friendly part of the world to stay in. The cheap hostels for backpackers and surfers will cost around 20 euros per night, whilst a stay in a three star hotel will be around 40 euros per night. When shopping for groceries, you will generally find that most items are cheaper than they are in Britain. Eating out will cost you around 10 euros for lunch, and you should make sure to try the local potato based speciality known as 'papas arrugadas con mojo'. Taxi fares start at 5 euros for journeys of 3 km, and you will usually have to pay an extra euro for each kilometre that you travel after that. All of the islands are so small, though, that you will rarely find yourself taking a very long taxi ride. One alternative is to take the bus; a single ticket is around just 1.5 euros.
