Where are the beaches in Tenerife?

The best time to visit Tenerife

Travel to Tenerife during February and March to experience Carneval in Santa Cruz and Puerto de la Cruz. The main resorts and beaches in the south of Tenerife, including the areas of Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas, are very popular and can be packed with tourists, while the west coast tends to be a bit quieter. The north part of Tenerife is good for surfing and hiking. Food and restaurant prices in the Canary islands are usually slightly lower than they are in Britain.

Local Tips

When looking for public transport from Tenerife South Airport, take buses 343, 350 or 111 to Los Cristianos and Costa Adeje. Bus prices run around EUR 3 and the trip typically takes approximately 15 minutes. A taxi will cost between about EUR 15 and EUR 20 and takes somewhere around 15 minutes. The bus to Santa Cruz costs about 9 EUR and can take at least an hour. Taxis cost about EUR 50 and the ride can take 45 minutes. When looking for accommodations in Tenerife, you may find that you can stay in a hostel or pension from about EUR 20 per night. Three-star hotels can cost around EUR 35 per night per person. 

Local transport is also provided by the bus company "Titsa". Single tickets cost from around EUR 1.50. Taxis are cheaper in Tenerife than they are in Britain, with the minimum fare being 5 euros for 3 km, then EUR1 per km after that.
