Airport Thessaloniki Macedonia SKG

Thessaloniki - Macedonia International Airport is the second most important airport on the Greek mainland. By passenge rnumbers the airport is only at third place due to the high number of charter flights to Heraklion airport.

It is near the second largest city in the country, Thessaloniki. The airport is administered by the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority, which is also responsible for monitoring Greek aerospace.

Location

The airport was opened in 1930 and is about 9 miles south east of the centre of the city and south of the suburb of Kalamaria on the Thermaic Gulf. By car take the GR-EO16 towards Nea Moudaniá and then follow the signs to the airport grounds.

The bus route 78 runs non-stop from the airport to the central bus station in Thessalonica at 20 to 30 minute intervals. The journey time is about 50 minutes. From the bus station in Thessalonica there are several bus services operated by the company K-TEL to other national destinations.
