What is the best travel time for Corfu?

The best time to visit Corfu is normally between April and October. Corfu is generally warm, but in summer it can be hot and windy. For beach holidays, the time between May and September is most suitable; hiking enthusiasts should fly to Corfu in April for the best nature.

Furthermore, the Easter festival, which takes place after Easter in the UK, is important to the inhabitants of Corfu. The 12th of December marks Saint Spyridon, the patron saint of Corfu, in whose honour various processions are held.

How to prepare for a Corfu holiday?

Holidaymakers are best advised to hire a car and to book this in advance of travel especially during the busy holiday season. A car will make it easy to reach particularly beautiful and uncrowded beaches in the west. Short distances can also be covered with a rented bicycle. Bus services serve major towns.

The cost of living is reasonable and generally lower than in the UK. Goods from the island are cheap to buy, only imported products can be more expensive. In a restaurant, an inexpensive meal costs about 10 euros, a beer 3.50 euros or a soft drink about 1.20 euros. The traditional Greek gyros costs around 3 euros.

 

How do travel on from Corfu airport?

The most convenient way to get from the airport to the centre of Corfu Town is by taxi. A single journey costs around 10 euros. There is also bus line 15, which can be used for about 1.20 euros. If hiring a car, book on the internet before arrival.

Accommodation prices in hotels range from 35 to 40 euros per night. Hostels cost only around 12 euros if you are lucky. Small flats can be booked from around 30 euros per night.

If you don't want to hire a car, you can explore the island by bus. Blue buses are used for in and around Corfu Town, the green buses serve stops all over the island. The cost of the buses varies depending on the route. In the city, a ride costs from about 1.20 euros, depending on the zone, and a day ticket costs about 5 euros.
