Airport Dubai World Central - Al Maktoum International DWC
Dubai World Central - Al Maktoum International Airport is a new airport in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Despite its size and rumours that it will be the worlds largest airport, Al Maktoum airport is not intended to replace Dubai International Airport , but merely support it.
Dubai World Central airport was opened in June 2010 but construction work will continue for several years to come.
Directions by car: Use the motorways E-311 and E-611.
Stations: There are plans to link the airport to the "Purple-Line" of Dubai Metro, this goes to Dubai International Airport.
Location
The airport is located about 50 km or 30 miles south west of the city centre, near the artificial harbour Jebel Ali. Dubai World Central airport is easy to reach on the motorways E-311 (Emirates Road) and E-611 (Dubai Bypass Road). The "Purple Line" of Dubai Metro will take some time to complete, after this has been completed there will be a direct shuttle transfer to Terminals 1 and 3 of Dubai International Airport.
