Antalya travel tips
Antalya: sun sea and history on the coast of Turkey
Antalya is located on the Mediterranean Sea in Turkey and is a popular beach resort town with incredible scenery, sandy beaches and a rich cultural history.
Visitors from the UK will need visas and valid passports to enter the country. All the usual recommendations for routine vaccines apply. Care should be taken with water and fresh fruit and vegetables.
Which month is the best to visit Antalya?
The best months to visit Antalya are April, May, September and October, when temperatures are pleasant and range from 20°C to 30°C. Temperatures can be uncomfortably high (mid 30s) during the summer months and beaches will be crowded during this time. Antalya festival is very popular and is held in mid September with a wide array of cultural events.
Nightlife in Antalya is very lively, large busy discos as well as smaller pubs and bars fill with locals and tourists during the peak season.
What are Antalya airport transport options?
Transport options for onward travel from Antalya airport include buses, trams, shuttles, taxis and hire cars.
A taxi would cost at least 90-100 TL from Antalya Airport to the city center. To the popular resort Lara Beach a taxi is priced from about 110-130 TL.
The Antalya Airport shuttle goes once an hour between 06:00 and 22:00 (there are also two buses during the night), The buses take 45 minutes to reach the centre and a ticket costs about 12TL.
For local transport once there visitors need the Antalya Kart, which is valid on all public buses and trams in Antalya.
Is Antalya Expensive?
Turkey in general is less expensive than the UK. A meal in an inexpensive restaurant is about 30 Turkish Lira. Drinks will cost from 7.50 TL for a soft drink and about 20 TL for a beer. Local markets are the best and cheapest place to buy food.
