Tips and tricks to help you find cheap flights from Manila to Dubai
Useful information about the flight from Manila to Dubai
Dubai - Man Made Jewel
Dubai offers impressive architecture, a thriving nightlife scene and a shopping district second to none, making it a very popular tourist destination.
When to Experience Dubai
With a subtropical climate, Dubai is a year round destination. Travellers wishing to avoid the summer temperatures which routinely soar as high as 45° are advised to visit Dubai between October and April when temperatures generally hover between a more comfortable 25°and 35°C. Visitors should also take note of travel around December 2 or Eid. Marking the end of Ramadan during the ninth month of the Islamic calendar - the dates of which vary - Eid is considered the most significant holiday festival of the year.
Before You Go: visas, vaccinations and local holidays
As a British citizen, you can apply for a 30-day visa on arrival in Dubai. Visas must be renewed on expiry and fines may be levied for failure to do so. It is advisable to check that your regular vaccinations are up to date before travelling. As part of an observant Islamic country, there are stringent restrictions on the consumption of alcohol in Dubai. During Ramadan, no eating, drinking or smoking is permitted in public during daylight hours. The cost of living is considerably less in Dubai than in London; you'll find the restaurant bill approximately 45% cheaper. While electronics are generally less expensive, any goods imported from Europe will be more costly. If you visit a local souk or marketplace, be sure to haggle over the price for a better deal. The time zone in Dubai is GST (Gulf Standard Time), which is UTC/GMT +4 or three hours ahead of London.
After You Land: transfer and accommodation
Public transportation is readily available directly from the airport to central Dubai. The Red Line services Terminals 1 and 3 with stops every 10 minutes; the Green Line stops at the Airport Free Zone near terminal 2. Both metro lines operate from Saturday till Thursday between the hours of 6am and 11pm and Fridays from 1 pm till midnight. Pricing varies by zone; approximately 1 zone for 4 AED, 2 zones for 6 AED and 3 zones for 8.50 AED. A special "red ticket" offers a 50% discount for up to 10 trips and is valid for 90 days. Buses are available at all terminals between the hours of 6am and 10pm, services include bus routes 4, 11, 15, 33 and 44. The metro and bus both cost approximately 4 AED. Since petrol is cheaper than in Europe, taxis, while more costly than public transportation, are still cheaper than in the UK. Travellers on a budget can find accommodation in hostels from approximately 100 AED; single hotel rooms start at about 800 AED. It is advisable to book as early as possible for the peak tourist season between September and May.
