Tips and tricks to help you find cheap flights from Dubai to Mumbai
Useful information about the flight from Dubai to Mumbai
Consider Magical Mumbai
Once known as Bombay, this densely populated city is famous for bustling streets, open markets and beautiful waterfronts. People visit this Indian paradise for its lakes, parks, religious places of interest and to experience some of the wonderful beaches.
When to Make Your Visit
Travellers may be eager to go, but should remember that from November until February is one of the best times to visit, as temperatures only reach a maximum of 30 degrees Centigrade. Avoid the hot season during the summer and certainly try not to visit during June-September as this is monsoon season. October is a great time to visit. This is the time of Diwali, the festival of light, an amazing sight to behold with a great party atmosphere. In March the last full moon of the month sees the Holi Festival of Colour. Ganesh Chaturthi is in August/September which hosts 10 days of celebrations, parades and more.
Things to Consider Before Travelling
You will need a visa from the Indian High Commission and hepatitis B, typhoid and tetanus vaccines are recommended. Some travellers may also want cholera, hepatitis A, rabies and/or Japanese Encephalitis vaccines. Many people do not drink the tap water, and make sure they keep to boiled, fried food and peel all vegetables and fruit. Smog is very likely during the dry season and may be problematic, especially for those with respiratory problems. Fortunately the cost of living in Mumbai is much cheaper than that in the UK with a budget meal only costing around 200 Rupees, which is about £2.
Local Information and Public Transport
Mumbai airport is approximately 28km from the city centre, you can get a pre-paid taxi for between 450 and 600 Rupees. If you're looking for budget guest houses then South Mumbai, Colaba or places near train stations are the cheapest. Compared with the rest of India, Mumbai is quite expensive for accommodation. A room in a hostel dorm would be around 250 Rupees and a 3 star hotel should cost from around 4000 Rupees. Taxis are a good way to travel and they're cheap at 21 Rupees for the first 1.5km and just 1 Rupee for every 100m after. Avoid suburban trains during rush hour as they get very crowded. If you'd like to travel by bus then you can get a day pass for around 70 Rupees and you'll need a smart photo ID card.
