Useful information about the flight from Kuwait to Delhi
Delhi Appeal
Delhi, the exciting capital city of India, is one of the world's top tourist destinations. The city's rich history, monuments, forts and mosques are what attract holidaymakers from around the world. New Delhi and Old Delhi contrast with each other to make this fabulous city so enticing.
Best Delhi Seasons
The best time to travel to Delhi is from October to March when the weather is pleasant. The monsoon season starts in May and lasts for around two months, so it's advisable not to travel during this time of the year. It is interesting to plan a visit to coincide with Delhi's holidays and festivals. The Holi Spring Festival takes place during March although the dates do change due to the Hindu calendar. Independence Day, August 15th, is celebrated with parades, floats and music.
Delhi travel advice
A visa is needed before travelling to Delhi, for more info contact the Indian High Commission. Passports require two blank pages for the visa which must be valid for at least 180 days at the time of application. A valid polio vaccine certificated is also required when arriving from certain countries. It is also recommended to have other vaccinations before going to Delhi such as hepatitis A, tetanus, diphtheria and typhoid. Women should be vigilant especially when travelling alone. India standard time is UTC/GMT +5.30 hours (UK winter). There is no daylight saving time in the summer so Delhi is four and a half hours ahead of the UK.
On arrival in Delhi
From Delhi International Airport take the Metro Line 2 into the city centre. It's available from 4 am until 23.30h. Alternatively you can use the shuttle bus to Connaught Place or arrange a pre-paid taxi in advance of your arrival. Delhi has an extensive range of guest houses and hostels to stay in. They cost about 500 INR per night. There are also many three star hotels which cost on average around 1400 INR per person, per night. Naturally when visiting Delhi you will probably want to see the city's many attractions such as Lodi Gardens, India Gate, Akshardham and the Garden of Five Senses. Public transport in Delhi is quite cheap especially when travelling by bus, metro or rickshaw. Using taxis is also much cheaper than in the UK. Do be careful when crossing the road as the traffic is always busy and road signs are poor. When sightseeing always take plenty of water.
