Young and fun, surfing in the sun or rain Newquay
Newquay is probably one of Britain's most trendy coastal resorts. It attracts a sports loving, young crowd, who love to surf and party. It is sat on the north coast of Cornwall, on the Atlantic ocean, so its reputation for surf is well founded. It's also a very pretty town, and has some great countryside nearby to explore.
Best beach time and surfing
As it's Britain, it's best to go in June/July/August for the beach, and for surfing, September/October is wild, but avoid the cold winter weather months as it's really chilly, or remember to bring a wetsuit. Turn up at the end of May though, and you'll catch the 'Run to the Sun Festival' which is a VW festival with live music and DJs. Or arrive in the second week of August to see the Falmouth Regatta week. There's also some great treats to eat, clotted cream teas, fudge, cider, traditional Cornish pasties made with meat and potatoes, local seafood dishes and great cheese to try at reasonable prices.

Where to stay, how to get there and around
The buses from Newquay airport to Newquay bus station take around 25 minutes and cost about £3. Taxis from the airport to central Newquay cost ca. £15 and above (15 minutes journey time. However, note that there is no taxi rank, and all taxis must be booked in advance). An Airport Development Fee of approx. £5 must be paid by all passengers who are 16 years old and over departing from Newquay. Hostels cost from around £10 per person per night, and sometimes include breakfast. Hotels start from about £40 per person and there are some lovely ones in and around Newquay. Bed and Breakfast is also a popular accommodation option.
