Miami travel tips
Miami - A Popular Destination All Year Round
Miami is an extremely popular destination for tourists from all over the world, as it offers something for everyone. Stunning beaches, limitless entertainment options, great hotels, and warm temperatures throughout the year are just some of the reasons why Miami is such a hit among its visitors.
When to visit Miami
Miami is always a great choice, as it enjoys warm temperatures throughout the year. However, the best time to visit is March till May, and you should note that June till November is hurricane season.
There are many holidays and festivals taking place in Miami. In January, you can visit the Orange Bowl Festival, which is the highlight of the football season with a parade through the city. In March, you can enjoy Carnival in Miami with processions, parties and parades, especially in Little Havana, and Salsa dancing on the streets. 4th of July is Independence Day, when the city is painted blue, white and red, and there is a lot happening on the beach.
What you should know before traveling to Miami
British citizen British passport holders are eligible for the Visa waiver programme (VWP) for visits up to 90 days. British passport holders of other nationalities will need a visa, so make all the necessary arrangements prior to traveling. You should also make sure to get the recommended vaccinations (Hepatitis A, Typhus, Tetanus and Diphtheria) before you travel.
If you are planning to travel to Miami in time for the Carnival, make sure to book your stay in advance; the hotels can be very busy and a lot more expensive during this time. Eating out can also be quite pricey, no matter when you travel: fast food costs from around $7, a menu in a restaurant from around $20, and a beer approximately $5.
The time in Miami is 5 hours behind the UK (GMT -5).
Local information you need for your trip to Miami
