Delhi merges lines between past and present
Delhi is the kind of destination that has a special type of charm which is born out of its ability to fuse an extraordinary past with a vibrant present. Although heavily populated, the city is surprisingly serene and particularly verdant. Ancient monuments, such as the Tughlagabad Fort, Qutab Minar, all signal Delhi's memorable past, while buildings like the India Gate and Parliament House Delhi mark a period of the British Raj. Things to note before travelling
Contact the Indian High Commission to sort out your visa, as you'll need one to enter India. You should also have at least 2 pages to be blank in your passport for your visa and it should be valid for at least 180 days, from the time of your application. You should also carry a polio vaccine certificate for entry if arriving from certain countries, and hepatitis A, typhoid, tetanus and diphtheria shots are all recommended.
Women should be extra vigilant while travelling alone in the city. Prices in India are relatively cheaper than in the UK, although top quality electronics cost around the same amount.
Indian Standard Time is UTC/GMT, which is +5.30 hours ahead of UK winter time. There is no daylight saving time in Delhi, so the country is 4.30 hours ahead of the UK during the summer.

The Metro line 2 travels from the airport to the city centre, from 4.40 till 23.30. The shuttle bus also provides services to Connaught Place and prepaid taxis are readily available.
