Valencia is a bright and busy city that delights tourists from all over the world. Outstanding architecture, endless shops, lavish cafes and stunning scenery will please all kinds of traveller.

Valencia climate and celebrations

Valencia has a Mediterranean climate so February to November has good weather all round leading to many tourists coming for beach holidays in late spring, summer and early autumn. Valencia is also suitable for a city holiday in winter. Fallas is on 15th-19th March - this is a festival celebrating St Joseph, papier-maché models are burned on the last day and the L'Ofrena de flors sees the Virgin Mary statue covered in flowers. In June they have an International Film Festival and in October there is a Valencia film festival. The 9th October is the Día de Sant Dionís, which celebrates the patron saint of Valencia with traditional marzipan fruit.

The Mercado Central and Mercado de Colón are popular market halls. The Paella Valenciana will give you a taste of the local food like the Horchata de Chufa drink and Fartons, which is a cake made with yeast. Getting around Valencia

If travelling from the airport to the city centre you can get the Metrovalencia underground - lines 3 or 5 take passengers from the airport for around EUR4 and a rechargeable card will cost you EUR1, they leave every 10 minutes or so and it only takes 20 minutes to get to the city.
