












































Tunis airport is the main airport in the country and used by tourists and travellers heading for the resorts and other part in Tunisia. There are a large number of tourist attractions scattered around the country and many beaches on the coast.
The months between April and October are the ultimate time for a Tunisia holiday for best weather. The Islamic Feast of Sacrifice as well as the Feast of Breaking the Fast immediately after Ramadan are celebrated on varying dates according to the Islamic calendar. July/August sees the "Festival International de Carthage" which is held in a theatre of Carthage. Theatre performances and international musicians are the highlights of this festival.
Travellers will need a residence permit valid for up to 90 days as well as the Carte de visiteur non-résident in order to enter the country. Both documents will be needed on leaving Tunis and should be kept for the entire trip. Prices are generally much lower in Tunisia than in the United Kingdom. A meal will cost as little as TND 8. Electrical goods, clothing etc. will usually cost the same as those at home. Head for the local market to buy excellent and cheap regional foods.
SNT buses serve central Tunis from the airport at half hourly intervals. A ticket will cost one dinar. The buses operated by TUT leave every 15 minutes and cost a little more. Taxis wait outside the arrivals terminal and are metered, passengers should ensure the meter is running. Car hire is also available at the airport.
Hotel rooms are available for moderate prices: 3 star hotels in Tunis will cost around 120 TND per person per night and a hostel will cost around 40 TND.
