What are the best times for a holiday in Ibiza?

The months between April and October are peak holiday season in Ibiza. In summertime, temperatures average 30 degrees Celsius while winters are much cooler at around 11 degrees. The most rainfall occurs in January and February. 

There are a number of festivals that take place throughout the year, especially electronic music and dance festivals such as Ibiza Rocks. The Ibiza Rocks festival takes place between mid-June and mid-September each year. 

 

What to consider before travelling to Ibiza

Safety is important wherever you go, especially when it comes to hiring cars in Ibiza. Try to book hire cars early, especially if visiting in July or August, to avoid trouble getting transport while there. 

The official languages in Ibiza are Catalan, and Castillian Spanish. English is widely spoken across the island, but learning a few basic Spanish phrases will definitely be appreciated by locals. 

Generally speaking, the cost of living in Ibiza is much lower than in the UK, especially in terms of grocery shopping in supermarkets.

 

How do you get to and around Ibiza?

Visitors arriving by plane can get a taxi to Santa Eularia for approximately 30 euros and taxis to Ibiza town cost approximately 15 euros. Alternatively, there is a number 10 bus which takes around 15 minutes to arrive in Ibiza Port and costs about 3 euros. In the summer during peak tourist season, some of the major Ibizan resorts have direct bus connections to the airport. 

Ibiza town centre is compact enough to comfortably explore without the need for public transport. However, there are plenty of buses that travel between the resorts and cities, for those staying outside Ibiza town. Single journey tickets typically cost less than 2 euros. The maximum price you should expect to pay for a single bus journey in Ibiza is no more than 5 euros. The night bus, a.k.a. the Discobus, stops at the major clubs, bars and hotels in the larger resorts and costs about 3 euros per trip.

Basic hostels in Ibiza town can be booked for about 10 euros a person while three star hotels cost around 100 euros, based on two people sharing a room.
