Useful information about the flight from Dubai to Hyderabad

The colourful pearl of India

Hyderabad, a southern city in India, 400 years in the making, allows you to travel through time. You will fall in love with its bustling streets and marketplaces, as well as the beautiful Charminar, museums, monuments and Hitech City.

Winter in Hyderabad

Summers can be very hot with temperatures reaching 42° Centigrade around July, which marks the start of the monsoon season. You will likely enjoy better the mild weather from October to March. October also features Diwali, the brightest festival in India. For other traditional celebrations, like Ganesh Chaturthi and the end of Ramadan check your calendar as dates will vary.

Preparing your trip

At least two months before your trip visit your doctor for a check up and vaccine boosters, especially Hepatitis A, Tetanus and Typhoid. Also make sure your passport is current and valid for at least 180 days when applying for a visa. "British citizen" passport holders can perhaps obtain an e-tourist visa. Telugu is the state language, but many people also speak Urdu, Hindi and English. Try to learn a few basic phrases in those languages to make interactions with locals more enjoyable. Cost of living is much lower in Hyderabad than the UK, so carrying around enough cash for extras such as the User Development Fee, charged at airports should not be a big problem. This fee may be included in your airfare, but if it's not you will have to pay on arrival, around Rs.1000.

Enjoy your stay

Transport from the airport to the city centre can be on Pushpak (shuttlebus) for between RS.100 to 250 one way, or radio taxis for around RS.40 per kilometre plus 25% extra charge if travelling at night. Taxis around the city go for about Rs.20 for the first 2 km, and Rs.10 for every additional km, but always negotiate the fee before you start your ride. You can always take the bus for cheaper transport if you don't mind crowds. Meals are very affordable from Thali for about Rs.150 to a restaurant meal for around Rs.250. Hyderabad has become a technology hub and a very popular tourist destination.
