Trains depart at Tirusulam station, located 500m from the airport. Tourists can also utilize prepaid taxis that cost approximately 300 Rupees. Public transport is cheaper than taking taxis. The cheapest fare for public transport is approximately Rs.3, while taxis have a minimum fare of around Rs.100 for an initial 4Km and thereafter cost 12 rupees per Km.
Chennai has many and varied accommodation options where a single room in a hostel or boarding house costs approximately 400 Rupees. Hotels that charge prices in the mid-range cost around 1000 rupees.
