Useful information about the flight from Dammam to Manila

Manila - A warm tropical paradise

Manila is hot, lively and full of people, and it is one of the most incredible cities out there. Its multi-cultural heritage and a number of attractions make it a very interesting place to visit.

Annual Manila highlights

Manila enjoys a warm tropical climate all year. The best time to travel is November to April. During the rainy season between June and October, typhoons are likely. As the Philippines are a Catholic country, the most important holidays are the same as in Europe: Easter and Christmas. They also celebrate the Feast of the Black Nazarine (Cristo Negro) on 9th of January and many other local festivals are held for patron saints on the islands.

Preparing to go

No visa is needed for British passport holders if visits last 30 days or less. Passports should be valid for a minimum of 6 months from the date of entry. There is a risk of cholera, hepatitis A, rabies, tetanus, typhoid and diphtheria, so you should consult your GP before travelling. Visitors should avoid drinking tap water, use bottled water for brushing their teeth, and always peel or cook all fruit and vegetables before eating. Always carry some form of ID (e.g. passport photocopy). The cost of living in the Philippines is much lower than in the UK. Meals in restaurants cost around half the price. The local cuisine is a diverse mix that reflects the country's history, so it is influenced by Spanish, Chinese, Japanese and American dishes. Manila is 8 hours ahead of UTC/GMT and 7 hours ahead of the UK in summer.

Local information you need for your trip to Manila

When arriving to the airport, you can take the bus shuttle service from 5 AM till 10 PM from terminal 3 to Baclaran LRT station (Line 1). There are also scheduled bus services between terminals 1 and 2 and the city centre. Taxis and jeepneys (minibuses) are also available at the airport. In general, public transport with buses, metro and jeepneys is cheap: tickets cost about 22 Philippine Pesos, which is around 30p. When travelling by a taxi, haggle and agree on price before the journey.
Very basic budget hostel accommodation in Manila is available for as little as about 500 Philippine Pesos, and luxury hotels are cheaper than in the West.
