Useful information about the flight from Manila to Bangkok

Beautiful capital in the land of smiles

Bangkok is a bustling city where the street life is always on the go. Yet tranquillity can be found among its stunning temples and monuments, and the subtropical climate means this is a top destination all year round.

A city of festivals where something is always happening

Bangkok is great to visit at any time of year, but bear in mind that June to November is monsoon season. February to April would be ideal, and during February you have Wan Trut Chin, the Chinese New Year. Songkran, the Thai new year, is from 13th to 15th April. The atmospheric Loi Krathong (Festival of Light) occurs in November and is a public holiday which follows the phases of the full moon.

Before you head to Bangkok

If you're a British passport holder, make sure your passport's validity lasts for at least six months from your entry date. You won't need a visa if you're staying for less than 30 days. Of course, you'll need to get your vaccinations before you go. The main recommendations are Hepatitis A, Typhus, Tetanus, Diphtheria, Rabies and Malaria prophylaxis. Your GP will have more details.

Travel around Bangkok and accommodation

You can catch the Airport Rail Link from the city centre straight to the flight terminal. To catch the Airport Link Express from the airport direct to the city will be about 100 THB, after which you can change or grab a taxi. The Airport Link City Line makes some stops, it takes longer but it's a bit cheaper.

Accommodation comes at very economical prices whether you're after a hostel or a luxurious hotel. Prices start at around 360 THB, and good tips include the Sukhumvit Road Area, Chinatown, and Khao-San-Road. For getting around locally, the bus is cheap but can be confusing. The metro is another low price option as are taxis which are fast and popular. Don't bother with the expensive tuk-tuks which are there to ensnare the tourists.
