Airport Belfast International BFS

Belfast International Airport, an important airport in Northern Iraland, is located near Aldergrove and is the most important airport in Northern Ireland. It is one of the 10 top air traffic hubs in the United Kingdom by passenger volume and handles more than 5 million passengers per year. It is especially significant and important for cargo transport, as all goods and the entire postal service run via the airport. Also located on the site of the airport is a base of the British Air Force, which uses it for military purposes.

The airport is very popular with tourists flying from Belfast to Malaga, Paris or services from Belfast to London. The airlines operating flights from and to Belfast include Aer Lingus and Easyjet who offer cheap travel to popular holiday destinations and fly from Belfast to Alicante and Malta and also serve many destinations in England such as Bristol or London-Stansted. Charter and scheduled flights are also provided by Thomas Cook and Thomson Airways.

Car: The airport is located about 28 km or 17 miles north-west of Belfast city centre. Motorists are best advised to use the M2 to Antrim and should then continue for about 10 miles turning left at exit 5 onto the A57 towards Aldergrove. The airport is then signposted.

Train: Passengers travelling by rail should take trains to Belfast Central Station and then use the shuttle bus from the nearby Belfast Europa Buscentre. The closest train station is Antrim railway station.

Bus and coach: The Airport Express 300 airport shuttle operates a daily and non-stop service to the airport at 10-minute intervals. The journey time is 30 to 40 minutes, depending on the time of day and amount of traffic. Translink also operate a service from the centre of Belfast to the airport.
