Best Manila Travel Times

If you are the sort that enjoys fun in the sun, Manila is for you. The tropical climate keeps it warm year round. However, its best to avoid the rainy season (June to October) and the typhoons that are brought along with it. The best time to travel is certainly November to April. Visiting Manila during this time is an excellent way to avoid the cold winters of the UK. 

Because of the Philippines's status as a Catholic nation, holidays such as Easter and Christmas are recognized and celebrated just as they are in European nations. Festivals for saints are commonplace and number in the hundreds each year. On January 9th, Manila holds the Cristo Negro (Feast of the Black Nazarene) across the country. 

Manila Safety and Other Considerations

Before you go to Manila, there are things you should consider and prepare for in advance. British citizens with a valid passport do not need visas for visits of less than 30 days. It is also recommended that visitors are vaccinated against typhoid, cholera, tetanus, hepatitis A, rabies and diphtheria.  

Visitors should avoid drinking the local water. Instead, use bottled water even to brush your teeth. Take basic precaution and peel or cook all vegetables and fruit before eating to avoid possible infection.

Also, Manila's cost of living is much lower than London. You can enjoy meals at restaurants for half the price in Manila.
 
 

Local Manila Accommodation and Transport 

Transportation and accommodation is cheap here. Public transport such as buses and jeepneys that are available at the airport and around the city can cost as little as 22 pesos. For taxis, you'll have to haggle a bit before deciding on the price and going your way. Luxury hotels are cheaper in Manila than in the West. For more basic accommodations, look forward to paying as little as 500 pesos.
