Arriving in Dublin
On your arrival in Dublin, make your first port of call the main tourist office in St Andrew's Church. The time zone is the same time as the UK, IST (UTC/GMT + 1h). Dublin is considered to be quite expensive, however, it's still generally cheaper than London. To give you an idea about the cost of living, a low-budget meal out can cost about 10 Euros. The great news is most of the city's major attractions like the National Gallery of Ireland, St Patrick's Cathedral and the Guinness Storehouse are all within walking distance of each other. Dublin transport options
There's an Aircoach express bus service leaving Dublin Airport every 15 minutes into the city centre. The journey time is about 30 minutes, single fares cost around 9 euros or 15 euros return. Aircoach services serve Cork and Belfast. Alternatively, the Airlink 747 bus goes from the airport to Dublin Connolly and Heuston Railway Stations. Cost is approx. 6 Euros or a return for about 10 euros. Local buses also serve Central Dublin, numbers 16, 41 and 102. Expect to pay 12 euros for a bed in a shared dormitory. B&B accommodation is available from 45 euros per person while 3-star hotels average about 80 euros per person, per night. Dublin has an extensive public bus and tram system. Single tickets cost 2 euros 20. Rechargeable Leap cards for use on buses and commuter trains cost 10 Euros. City centre taxi prices range from between 6 and 10 euros.
