Location
The airport was opened in 1940 and is located about 10 miles north of Kuopio. From Kuopio use the state road 5/E-63 towards Toivala. Just after Toivala follow the airport signs on the State Highway 17.
Rail and bus passengers head for Kuopio main bus or train station and then use either a taxi or Linja-Karjala Oy shuttle bus; the bus leaves 60 minutes before each flight departure from the bus station in Kuopio. There are also further connections from Lisami on Lapinlahti and Siilinjärvi to the airport.
