Inaugurated on April 23, 1954, the airport is about 8 kilometres or 5 miles south of the city centre. There is currently no shuttle service between the airport and the city. The onward journey is therefore only possible by car or taxi.
However, there is a bus stop less than half a mile from the airport served by the bus number 1 operated by the "L.C.C" which goes to the Rue Sadat in Hamra. From here it is possible to take the number 5 bus to Charles Helou bus station.
