Krakow travel tips
The majestic city of Krakow
Located south of Poland near the border with the Czech Republic, this tranquil southern city is rich in history. Krakow is well known for its well-preserved medieval ambiance and Jewish quarter. Anyone who wants to have an idea of how life was in this time should visit this beautiful city.
Ideal travel time
Snow lovers will love this city. There is usually plenty of snowfall during the winter season. And as the cold winter subsides, the city begins its transformation to a vibrant metropolitan. Various activities occur in this town, notably the Krakow Film Festival which happens between May and June. The festival showcases documentaries and short films and tells more about the city and its history. Then towards the end of June and beginning of July, there is the Jewish Culture Festival. The Jewish community plays a very vital part in this city. Around this time the Jazz festival also takes place. Music lovers can also look forward to the Unsound Festival, which focuses on electronic music. It takes place around October.
Must-knows about Krakow
Many tourists head to this city. Kazimierz, the Jewish district, is a popular district. And because of that, it is usually hard to find a parking space within the city centre. Krakow's cost of living is relatively cheap in comparison to other major cities, especially those in the UK. Getting something to eat is also very cheap.
After arriving at Krakow Airport
Krakow, just like other cities in the country, has a good infrastructure and all the social amenities that one might need. There is ample transportation from the airport to the town centre. The airport is situated approximately 12 km from the city centre. For a relatively small fee, visitors can take a taxi, a train, or an airport bus to get to the desired destination. Once within the city, it is easy to get from one point to the other on foot or to hire a bike to get around within the city centre.
Accommodation varies in price and is of high quality in Krakow. There are hotels in all price categories in the city. Travellers should grab a chance to try out some typical Krakow delicacies in the excellent restaurants around the city.
