Fuerteventura travel tips
Fuerteventura
The charming Balearic island of Fuerteventura is a very popular vacation destination. Its laid back atmosphere, sandy beaches, charming restaurants and cafes are what makes this Spanish, Mediterranean island so appealing. If you're a beach and water sport lover, Fuerteventura is the ideal place to go.
Best Fuerteventura seasons
Fuerteventura is definitely an inviting all year round destination. The warm Mediterranean climate is ideal for chilling out on the beaches and topping up your tan. The island also has strong winds, perfect for kite surfing and surfing. Many travellers arrange travel plans to coincide with Fuerteventura's holidays and festivals. In February/March enjoy the Carnival in Corralejo and Puerto del Rosario. At the end of May there's the Dias de la islas Canarias where you can join in the many local events and listen to fantastic music. Columbus Day or Dia de la Hispanidad is held during October, a national holiday with many parades and exciting events.
Before you get to Fuerteventura
The best way to explore the island is by car, so why not arrange to hire a vehicle before you travel? Some parts of Fuerteventura are developed for mass tourism while other areas are more remote and only accessible by car. The cost of living in Fuerteventura is slightly cheaper than in the UK. Dining out and buying groceries in the local markets will cost you less than in Britain. The currency on the island is Euros so make sure you buy before travelling.

Airport Fuerteventura FUE
Fuerteventura Airport, also known by the name El Matorral, is on the Canary Island of the same name. Of the populated islands, Fuerteventura is the closest to the African continent. Although the airport is relatively small, by traffic volume it is amongst the top 10 most important airports in Spain. It is used primarily by European tourists and is not subject to seasonal variations due to the excellent weather that the islands enjoy all year round. The airport is managed by AENA, who also monitor Spanish airspace. Most flights to the island are operated by airlines bringing tourists from Germany and the United Kingdom. While most visitors will be arriving as part of a package deal using charter flights, particularly cheap flights are also operated by Ryanair and Easyjet from East Midlands, London or Leeds airports for example.- URL: Official website
