Tips and tricks to help you find cheap flights from Mumbai to Dubai
Useful information about the flight from Mumbai to Dubai
Luxurious and sophisticated Dubai
Dubai is one of the most advanced and highly developed cities in the world. Situated in the southern region of the Persian Gulf, this sophisticated destination is known for its innovative, modern architecture, luxurious shopping malls and impressive man-made islands.
Best weather and events in Dubai
Dubai has a wonderful subtropical climate, which makes it the perfect destination to visit all year round. If you prefer a cooler climate, however, travel between the months of October to April. The temperatures around these times tend to fall below 25 and 35 degrees Celsius. In the summer season, temperatures can reach 45 degrees Celsius.
Dubai tips
Eid is a very important Islamic festival in Dubai and always occurs at the end of Ramadan. Dates for Ramadan vary from year to year, although the 2nd December is the fixed date for National Day, which is a public holiday. If you travel to Dubai during Ramadan, note that you cannot eat or drink in public during the day while people are fasting. Alcohol is not permitted in the UAE and regulations are extremely strict.
British citizens should apply for a 30 day visa upon arrival at the airport. Bear in mind, fines are issued out for visitors who have outstayed their visas, so keep yours up to date, if you plan on staying for longer. Check with your GP whether vaccines are all up to date before you leave the UK.
The cost of living in Dubai is normally much lower than London and restaurant prices are around 45% cheaper. You'll pay more for goods imported from Europe, although electronics are considerably cheaper. Be prepared to haggle at the souk. It's lots of fun and is actually a part of the culture.
Dubai is at GST (Gulf Standard Time), which is GMT +4 and thus 3 hours ahead of London.
Transportation around the city and accommodation
The red line metro stops at the airport terminals 1 and 3 every 10 minutes and the "green line" stops at the Airport Free Zone, near terminal 2. Both metros offer services from Saturday till Thursday, between 6 am and 11 pm and Fridays from 1 pm till midnight. Approximate prices for zone 1 is 4 AED. Zone 2 is around 6 AED and zone 3 is approximately 8.50 AED. Save money with a red ticket, which allows for 10 journeys and is valid for 90 days. The numbers 4, 11, 15, 33, and 44 buses stop at all terminals from 6 am till 10 pm.
Single rooms in hotels cost around 800 AED, while hostel beds are available for approximately 100 AED. Be sure to book accommodation early between September and May, as this is the peak season.
A single ticket on metros and buses is cheap, costing around 4 AED, and a red ticket will give you a 50% off. Although taxis are more expensive than other forms of transport here, they are still cheaper than UK prices, due to the low price of petrol.
