Local information, arrival, accommodation and transport
Malpensa is Milan's largest airport. It is located about 50 km northwest of the city. The city centre can be reached by train from Terminal 1, Level 1, it takes approximately 45 minutes. A bus, the number 73 or x73 leaves Terminal 1 and takes 50 minutes to reach central Milan. Taxis are available from both Terminal 1 and 2 and take about 50 minutes, access them via exit 5. A taxi from the airport to the city centre will cost about 100 EUR. Bergamo is an 1 hour train journey from the airport. The drive to the city is straightforward on Autostradale, Zani Viaggi. There is an Orio shuttle bus that runs a direct service from the airport to Milan. The journey takes about one hour. (1 hr).
There is a wide choice of accommodation in Milan. Star rated hotels are the most expensive but the range of bed and breakfast is wide and offers a comfortable stay. Public transport and taxis make getting around easy. A 24-hour bus and underground ticket is recommended on public transport.
