In the middle of the day there is a siesta and most shops are closed during siesta time which lasts from approximately 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM. When visiting Panaji most of the shops close at about 8 PM.

When using taxis you should try to negotiate the price in advance unless it is a pre-paid one from outside Goa airport arrivals at the airport. You should also negotiate for autos and motorcycle taxis. Kadamba bus fares begin at Rs 3 for 2 km and Rs 1 for each additional km.
Rooms in Goa vary in price. A luxury room in Goa starts at Rs 4,000 per night for one person, while a basic room starts at Rs 700 per person, per night. More average priced rooms are also available for about Rs 2500 each night, per person. If you are looking for a slower pace in a different culture than this is the place for you.
