      When to visit Singapore

      Singapore is an ideal all year destination, as it has only minimal temperature fluctuations and temperatures are usually somewhere between 23° and 34°C. Singapore is a great choice during the Chinese New Year, with celebrations taking place from the end of January to early February. Vesakh, a Buddhist festival, takes place at full moon in May, and there is a national holiday celebration on 9th of August.


      What you should know about Singapore

      British passport holders do not normally require a visa for stays of 30 days or less. However, passports should be valid for at least 6 months from the entry date. Your routine vaccinations should be up to date. Check with your GP for other recommended vaccinations, such as hepatitis A and typhoid. Keep in mind that drinking and eating is not permitted on public transport and is subject to high fines. Spitting in the street is also illegal and smoking is only allowed in designated areas. Cover your legs and arms, and take your shoes off before entering mosques.

      If you arrive at the Singapore airport, you can take the metro to the city centre for the price of around 2 SGD, taking about 20 minutes, while the bus takes about 60 minutes. If you want to take a taxi, it will cost you around 30 SGD and prices are 50% higher during the night. To get around the city, you can use Singapore's public transport system. The EZ - Link Singapore Tourist Pass is a rechargeable chip card which enables reduced fares on the metro and bus network. If you prefer to take taxis, you should know that taxi prices are higher during the night and during the rush hour.
