Important information before you travel
Before travelling to Dubai, there are some things that you need to know. British citizen may be able to apply for a 30 day visa on arriving in Dubai. However, there are hefty fines should you overstay your visa. From a cultural standpoint, the locals expect you to haggle when you are at an Arabic marketplace, known as a "souk". Imported goods from Europe will usually be more expensive, but electronics should be cheaper. Likewise, restaurants are much more reasonably priced than in London or the rest of the UK.
Getting to the centre, accommodation and transport
Dubai is at Gulf Standard time, which is three hours ahead of London. Dubai has a good public transport system. At the first and third terminals the red line metro will stop every ten minutes. The "green line" metro bus will stop at the Airport Free Zone by terminal 2, and the metro buses generally run from Saturday to Thursday from 6 am to 11 pm and Friday from 1 pm to midnight. Accommodation is reasonable as well, and usually amounts to around 100 AED in hostels and 800 AED in hotels.
