Climate and Yearly Attractions

Delhi's climate is warm all year round. However, with temperatures hitting 40°C in the summer months, the best time to visit is between October and March when temperatures will be cooler at 20-30°C. Before You Leave

You will need a visa to travel to India. Your passport will need at least two blank pages for the visa and should be valid for at least 180 days from the time of your application. Be sure to apply at least 6 weeks before your departure to allow for processing delays. 

A polio vaccine certificate is needed if travellers arrive from some countries, but recommended vaccines for all travellers include Hepatitis A, Typhoid, Tetanus and Diphtheria. 

The cost of living is as a whole much lower than in the UK, but some items - such as quality electronics - will still cost the same as in Britain. 

India's Standard Time is UTC/GMT +5:30 hours during UK winter and +4:30 hours during UK summer, as there is no daylight saving time in India.

For When You Arrive

When arriving in India, you will most likely fly into Delhi's main New Delhi Indira Gandhi Airport. From here travelling to the centre of Delhi is relatively easy: take the Metro line 2 between the hours of 4:40am to 23:30, or take the airport's shuttle bus to Connaught Place or organise a prepaid taxi.

The cost of accommodation in Delhi is lower than it would be in the UK. You can expect to pay around 500 INR per night for a guest house or hostel or around 1400 INR for a cheap three star hotel. 

Delhi has a cheap public transport network consisting of buses, metros and rickshaws. Taxi prices will be much cheaper than in the UK.
