Location
To reach the terminal please use the U.S. Highway 101 and Interstate 380. Between the airport and various stops in the Bay Area several trains of the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) operate a service. Times are available locally. In addition, commuter trains leave from the nearby Millbrae station operated by Caltrain and go southwards through "Silicon Valley", eg to San Mateo, Palo Alto or Mountain View. The other communities in the Bay Area are served by SamTrans.
History
San Francisco airport, which was opened on 7th May 1927, was originally a piece of leased land known by the name of Mills Field Municipal Airport. Until 1931 it was remained Mills Field, before the name was changed to San Francisco Municipal Airport. The word "municipal" was then changed to “international” in 1955.
