First in use in 1958, the airport is 12 km or 8 miles southeast of the city centre in the district of Embakasi. To reach the airport from the city centre use the South Airport Road where it is signposted; or on the motorway A-109. From the inner city the bus number 34 operates a daily service to the airport.
