The airport was opened in 1937 and is 1 mile south of the capital of the island Corfu (Kerkyra), on the Island Road 25. Drive to Corfu City and then follow the signs to the airport. The local bus route 2 (Kanoni-Mandouki) stops at the airport every day at 30 minute intervals.

Most visitors to Corfu will be picked up from the airport by shuttle buses organised by their tour operators. However, there is also a taxi rank at the airport outside the terminal and Avis, Europcar, Hertz etc. all provide car hire at Corfu airport.
