Edinburgh, the capital city of Scotland, has a medieval Old Town and a fabulous Georgian New Town. The famous Arthur's Seat can be found here along with magnificent views from the peak. Edinburgh - best months to go
The best time to travel to Edinburgh is between May and September. It can be wet and windy at any time throughout the year, so remember to pack your umbrella. Edinburgh is most popular during festival time. From early August to mid-September there are ten official festivals, for example, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival or the Edinburgh International Festival, both held in August. For a New Year's celebration like no other, visit Edinburgh. On January 1st when Hogmanay is celebrated in a true, exciting Scottish way.

Getting to central Edinburgh and finding somewhere to stay
Edinburgh Airport is approximately 10 miles from the city centre. The Edinburgh Tramway will transfer passengers in about 35 minutes from the airport to central Edinburgh with prices in the region of £5 for an adult, single, £8 for an open return. The approximate price for the airlink express is £4 single while an open return ticket costs about £7. This journey takes around 25 minutes. The slowest way is by taking the Lothian bus number 35. This journey lasts for approx 1 hour 35 minutes but is the cheapest, costing around £1.50 for a single ticket. Budget accommodation will cost from about £10 for a hostel, a double room in a 3 star hotel will set you back about £100 during the peak season. Many of Edinburgh's famous sights and landmarks are within walking distance. Public transport however using the Lothian bus will cost you about £1.50, only one journey on one bus, no changes allowed. There are taxis too which aren't too expensive.
