Prices for groceries are on average about 30% higher than in London. Restaurant prices are around 5% higher in New York than in London. Prices in restaurants, cafes and bars often do not include taxes; therefore, consider adding 20% extra for tips per beer. The All Terminal train arrives approximately every ten minutes. From JFK Airport, Air Train to Metro (New York Subway) stop at all terminals and serve 'Howard Beach', then change for Midtown or Downtown Manhattan. This takes approximately 40-75 minutes journey time. Or, you can opt for an express bus to Manhattan, Hudson Valley or Long Island. Taxis to Manhattan go for around $52. Using public transport will cost about $2.75 one way for metro, or take the express bus for $6.50 one way. Most residents prefer yellow cabs because of privacy concerns, but public transport is cheaper and faster. Hostels go from around $34 per person per night while hotels cost from about $40 for one person per night.
