Located on the south coast of England, Southampton is sheltered by hills. This makes it warmer and sunnier compared to many other UK cities. The best time to travel is from May until September. Prepare to go to Southampton
Southampton has an interesting seafaring past. Before you travel, why not arrange to visit the Sea City Museum, Tudor House or Southampton City Art Gallery? There's also the Medieval Merchant's House, Hythe Pier and for evening entertainment, the Mayflower Theatre. The cost of living here is about average for the UK and around 10% cheaper than London. Southampton's transport options
From the airport to the city centre travellers can take the train. The journey time is around seven minutes at a cost of about £4. The U1C bus to central Southampton costs about £2. Options also exist to other parts of the country: a train to Winchester takes approx. ten minutes and to London Waterloo about 70 minutes.
