These prices are typically found October to January when few tourist visit Colombo due to the rainy season. Colombo also sees some rain May through July, but that doesn't stop the festivals mentioned above. January through March is a colder but less rainy season in Colombo. Things to know before heading to Colombo

Those visiting Colombo should get Hepatitis A, typhus, tetanus, rabies and diphtheria vaccines before arriving. A visa and passport that is valid for at least 6 months are also required. It is also important to remember to respect local customs and traditions when travelling in Sri Lanka, especially around temples and statues of Buddha. Things to remember while in Colombo

In terms of planning transportation, it is important to remember that buses are cheaper than tuk-tuks or taxis, but tuk-tuks are probably the most practical mode of transport. Tuk-tuks are priced starting at approx. LKR 50, travelling 4-5km costs around LKR 200; travelling 6km costs about LKR 250. It is advisable to book train tickets to other cities in Sri Lanka well in advance. Furthermore, visitors should remember that intercity bus 187 will take you from the Airport to Colombo in 40-60 minutes for about 110 LKR.
