The cost of living in Barcelona is generally lower than in London. A beer costs approximately 5 EUR and eating out is less expensive than in London. Barcelona is at a different time zone, so set clocks an hour forward.
Local information: arriving, finding accommodation and getting round
El Prat Airport is approximately 12 km from the city centre and travel from there to the centre is straightforward. Aerobus A1 and A2 operate a service to Plaça de Catalunya, the cost is ca. 6 EUR. There is also a train to the city. A taxi costs around 20 EUR. The range of hotels in Barcelona is wide. Hotels cost about 100 EUR per/person a night. Hostels cost around 15 EUR per person a night. The metro, trams, buses and overground trains are good. A single ticket costs 3 EUR, 10 journey tickets cost about 12 EUR. A Barcelona Card is valid on all public transport and offers reduced admission into some museums and attractions. The price can vary on the length of a stay in Barcelona. Taxis are available but are more costly than public transport.
