Weather: The tropical climate of Mauritius is warm all year with the west coast hot and the east cost notably windy. The peak travel times are from March to May and September to November. During January/February it can be very humid and hot and the cyclone season lasts from January to March.

Events: From January to February is the Holi festival of colours and Cavadee, the Tamil Festival in honour of the god Muruga, which is accompanied by people in trances, fire walking and body piercings.
