Passengers need to change for Mid or Downtown Manhattan and should expect a journey time of 40 to 75 minutes. An alternative route is to take the bus or metro to Long Island Rail Road Station. This route includes an Express bus to Manhattan, Hudson Valley or Long Island. Taxis from the airport to Manhattan start at around $52. Within NYC single Metro or subway tickets cost around $2.75, while a Metrocard is about $29 for seven days. The Express bus is $6.50 one way. Local New Yorkers often use yellow cabs for getting around, but public transport is always cheaper and usually faster.
