Useful information about the flight from Bangkok to Bali

Heavenly island in South East Asia

Bali is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world and the Indonesian island offers visitors a wonderful combination of friendly locals, fascinating and deeply spiritual culture, and breathtaking scenery that range from gorgeous beaches to rice terraces, among many other types of landscapes.

Weather conditions, holidays and festivals to enjoy in Bali

It is possible to enjoy Bali all year round, as the temperatures tend to stay quite consistent, but short daily showers do occur during the rainy season between November and March. The best period to visit is from April to October.

Various festivals are held all through the year on the island. However, Nyepi, the New Year celebration in Bali, is a must see. It occurs in March on the first day of the new moon.

Useful Bali information and tips

British citizens can visit Bali without a visa for stays of up to 30 days if flying into and out of specific airports including Ngurah Rai Airport. Visitors must check the Foreign Office website for more information. Otherwise, British nationals living overseas must obtain a visa. Moreover, evidence of onward travel must be provided by all travellers.

In terms of vaccines, none are absolutely necessary, but shots against Hepatitis A, Typhus, Tetanus and Diphtheria are highly recommended.

Any drug-related offence, whether it is possession, consumption or sale, is very strictly punished with long prison sentences or even the death penalty. Road traffic is quite hazardous in Bali and visitors must be extra careful when renting motorbikes or mopeds, both in terms of accidents and theft.

The prices in Bali are quite low in general and a simple meal costs around 5,000 IDR. It is better to avoid drinking tap water and to wash or peel fruit and vegetables.

Landing, finding lodgings and travelling around Bali

The airport is located about 2 kilometres from Kuta and some hotels will pick-up their guests. Otherwise, taxis are available but they are quite expensive and the price must be negotiated. The cheapest option are "Blue Bird" taxis.

Cheap accommodation is available, and rooms in a hostel or guesthouse cost around 60,000 IDR.

Bali public transport is cheap and consists of bemos (minibuses), as well as cheap "Kura-Kura" buses. Taxis are more expensive but the rates are of course still lower than in the UK. Once again, the fare must be negotiated before boarding the car.
