Location
Opened in 1928, the airport is located about 4 km or 2 miles northwest of downtown San Diego. It is accessible via Interstate Highway # 5 at the exits # 17, 18A and 19.

History
After the Second World War the airport grew quickly and Pacific Southwest Airlines established its headquarters at San Diego airport. The airline began to operate flights to various destinations in California in 1949. The majority of flights from Lindbergh Field go to the west. The first jets came in 1960 with the airlines American Airlines and United Airlines, which flew to Phoenix and San Francisco using the Boeing 720. International destinations are in Mexico and Canada and currently include Mazatlan, Loreto, Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos, Toronto and Vancouver.
