The airport is located about 15 km or 10 miles north of the city centre, near the town of Dum Dum and can be reached using the Belgharia Expressway, which links the two highways NH-2 and NH-34 with each other.
Approximately 5 km from the airport is Dum Dum train station, from here the metro line 1 runs to the terminus Tollygunge.
