Location

Opened in 1929, but not in use before 1930, the airport is in Romulus, about 27 km or 20 miles south west of downtown Detroit. Car drivers can reach the airport via the Interstate I-94 leaving at exit 198 (North Terminal) or the Interstate I-275 , exit 15 (McNamara Terminal).

Between the North Terminal and the Transit Center at Fort Street in downtown Detroit there is a regular bus service provided by the SMART bus number 125 (Fort Street). Various bus routes go from the Transit Center to the Amtrak rail station about 5 km north in the district Hamtramck. The bus route 280 (Middlebelt South) also stops at the airport and goes towards Garden City. Timetable details are available locally or on the internet.
